Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you have been able to have some semblance of rest over the Easter period even in these strange times of 'lockdown'. The following email sets out some key updates relating to both the school and the current national picture.

FSM Vouchers
If you are experiencing any problems accessing your vouchers, please contact Claire or Jo via the school office email address: office@tweeddaleprimary.sutton.sch.uk . They will be able to respond to your query as best as they can. Please bear in mind that there have been some issues with the supplier of these vouchers. These problems have not been at our end so please have patience if you are experiencing issues.

Google Classroom
Teachers will begin to put work onto Google Classrooms for Monday 20th April. Please do your best to access these resources and share any work with your child's teacher. We understand that some of you will access and complete work in different ways, so please let your teacher know via your child's email how you are doing this. If you are having any issues accessing work, please look on the website in 'file downloads' section for documents explaining how to access Google Classroom and share work. Failing this please contact the school office.

School Office
The school office will be manned again during school hours from Monday 20th April 2020.

School Admissions
It is important parents continue to have the right to appeal any school admission decisions. To enable this, the government will be making regulatory changes that, subject to legislation, will come into force on 24 April 2020. The new regulations will relax some of the current requirements set out in the School Admission Appeals Code 2012, giving admission authorities flexibility to manage appeals whilst ensuring families are supported and not disadvantaged by current measures to protect public health.

Updated handwashing advice
It is essential that everyone washes their hands more often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand washing with soap employs mechanical action that loosens bacteria and viruses from the skin, rinsing them into the drain. Drying hands afterwards makes the skin less hospitable to the virus. Hand sanitiser can be effective if soap is not available or the situation makes using soap less feasible (i.e. when outside) but using hand sanitiser provides none of the virus-destroying friction that rubbing your hands together and rinsing with water provides.

The latest guidance and video on hand washing can be found at:

We will endeavour to keep you updated with any changes to school closures as soon as we are made aware of them.

Stay safe and healthy.

The Tweeddale Team.
