World Book Day - Thursday 3rd March 2022

World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March and we have decided to mark this special day by asking children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character, if they would like to. We have lots of activities planned for the day to promote a love of reading.

The children will also be given a £1 book token to bring home, which can be exchanged at WHSmith, Waterstones and other local book shops (including most supermarkets) for the Special World Book Day books https://www.worldbookday.com/books/

We also have professional author Stephen Davies coming in to do a special assembly and workshops on 2nd and 7th March, to inspire the children to read and write for pleasure. He will bring some books with him which the children could buy and have signed. There is a range of titles for all ages - see information sent out on Groupcall.

We will also be having a book fair week from 28th March to 1st April, where the children will have the opportunity to buy books after school. They can also use their £1 book token towards any book they would like.

Thank you for working with us to help make your child's education exciting and memorable.

Year 1 Superhero Day

On Thursday 6th January 2022 we are launching our new Superheroes topic to engage the children with an exciting starting point. Children will take part in a Superhero Hunt and will then explore how superheroes move. To bring our day to life please send your child into school wearing a superhero costume. If you do not have one maybe you could invent your own superhero and make one - e.g bin liner capes, decorate old clothes (the teacher will be improvising with theirs). Children are also allowed to bring in their favourite superhero toy for this topic. We would appreciate any comics too or other items relating to our topic to encourage the children’s learning.
Thank you
